Rick obtained his life insurance license in 1985 and completed paralegal studies in 1988. The following year, he obtained his property and casualty insurance license. In 1999, Rick successfully completed five years of study and acquired the prestigious, Certified Insurance Counselor® (CIC) professional insurance designation. Rick also served as a Magistrate for the Commonwealth of Virginia for twelve years, as well as a gubernatorial appointee of former Governor George Allen’s on the Criminal Justice Services Board. His broad knowledge of insurance coverages, risks, and exposures, as well as his experience in working in Virginia government, allows him to serve his insurance clients with unique expertise and insight. Rick handles all of the farm, business, and life insurance coverages for agency clients and, in addition, is also a licensed property and casualty insurance consultant.
Rick is active in the community having served as a Sunday school teacher, YMCA youth basketball coach, and 4H club leader. Rick currently serves on the Buyer’s Committee for the 4H/FFA Market Animal Show of Augusta County, Virginia. He also serves on the Augusta County Community Advisory Board for F&M Bank and is currently serving on the Augusta County Agricultural/Forestal District Advisory Committee. Rick, along with his wife, Diane, are lifelong residents of the Shenandoah Valley. They reside in Stuarts Draft and have six children and 22 grandchildren.

Jessica Williams, also known as Rick’s daughter-in-law previously worked as the agency’s customer service representative from 1998 until 2003. She continued to fill in occasionally for another Rockingham Insurance agent until 2005. Jessica is very active in her community, teaching Sunday school and also serving as 4H club leader. She is an avid equine enthusiast and participates in horse shows and riding competitions throughout the state of Virginia. She has two daughters following in her footsteps who also ride competitively.

Ryan Heale obtained his property and casualty insurance license in 2012 and works part-time as a producer and assisting with property inspections.
Ryan is Rick’s son in law and enjoys church activities, woodworking and helping Rick restore the agency’s 1966 Ford F100 pickup truck when he has the time.
